What kind of changes are about to happen in regional traffic?

Waltti ticket products will cease to be used in lines 20–40 and in airport traffic starting from June 7th, 2021. Lines 1–15 and Pikku-Pete will continue to use Waltti travel card.

After June 7th, line numbers will be phased out from lines 20–40. However, traffic will continue as before at the main routes Kajaani-Sotkamo-Kuhmo, Kajaani-Paltamo-Puolanka, Kajaani-Suomussalmi-Kuusamo and Kuhmo-Nurmes.

Grey lines: Waltti ticket products will cease to be used. Green lines: Waltti ticket products will continue to be used.

How do I know if my card is regional travel card or city travel card?

The main color of city travel card is yellow, the main color of regional travel card is blue.

What is going to happen to regional Waltti travel cards?

The blue regional travel card can no longer be used in any traffic starting from June 7th, 2021. The sale of new regional Waltti travel cards ends on May 9th, 2021. At the same time, the possibility to download season tickets and Kela tickets to the regional travel card will also expire. You can top up value to your regional travel card until June 6th, 2021.

We recommend using up all the ticket products downloaded on the regional travel card before June 6th, 2021.

What is going to happen to city travel cards?

Normal use of city travel card will continue even after June 6th, 2021, but only in lines 1-15 and in Pikku-Pete. The city travel card can’t be used in regional traffic (lines 20-40) after June 6th.

What is going to happen to value tickets and season tickets, loaded on the travel card?

The value downloaded on the personal travel card and non-started season tickets can be returned in cash to the customer at Kajaani Info until 31 August 2021. A handling fee (€ 8.00) is charged for the refund. Initiated Kela tickets or season tickets will not be refunded. You can check the value downloaded to your travel card on a Waltti card reader.

Are ticket products on regional travel card refundable?

No, use of regional travel card will cease entirely and it can’t be used in any traffic after June 6th, 2021.

Why Waltti ticket products will cease to be used?

Current contracts concerning lines 20–40 and airport traffic will end in spring 2021. As new contracts come into effect, ticketing will be renewed as well.

When and where can I buy new ticket products?

The new Matkahuolto ticket products will go on sale at the beginning of June 2021 and can be purchased from Kajaani Matkahuolto or Matkahuolto’s online service.

Which kind of ticket products will be on sale as of June 7th, 2021?

The new ticket products to be introduced as of June 7, 2021 will cover single tickets, 30-day season tickets, 44-trip series tickets, which will replace former value tickets, and Kela tickets will remain the same. Eligible discount ticket groups include students, seniors, and military and civilian servicemen.

Who will be operating the traffic?

Transport services for the routes Kajaani–Sotkamo–Kuhmo, Kajaani–Paltamo–Puolanka, Kajaani–Suomussalmi–Kuusamo and Kuhmo–Nurmes will be bought by Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment for North Ostrobothnia, as they are now. Where can I find information about the new routes and timetables?

As before, the traffic service will be provided for the routes Kajaani–Sotkamo–Kuhmo, Kajaani–Paltamo–Puolanka, Kajaani–Suomussalmi–Kuusamo and Kuhmo–Nurmes.

More detailed information will be published by the bus operators at the end of May. Information about the routes and timetables will also be published in Matkahuolto and Google Maps no later than June 7th.
